Universal Round 2
A few weeks ago, Chandler and I had the amazing opportunity to stay at Universal’s newest hotel, Loews Aventura. Last summer we stayed at the Loews Sapphire Resort right next store and had the best time. I was so excited to find that we would be experiencing a new side of the campus and all the amazing amenities. There is such a benefit to staying on Universal’s grounds if you plan to attend the parks for multiple days, which I recommend because there are three. Staying on the grounds gives you access to the water taxi which picks you up at the hotel and takes you straight over to City Walk where you can easily get into the parks. You can also take the shuttle bus. There are also so many eating choices and fun activities to get involved in. Let’s talk a little more about it.
When you walk into the foyer, you are greeted by a modern look and feel to the hotel. It is equipped with beautiful sitting areas and stellar lighting to add such an upscale addition. It’s an open concept plan so it really displays a bright and beautiful entryway. My heart skipped a beat when I noticed that there was a full-service Starbucks in the foyer. This was perfect to put a little pep in my step after a 10-hour drive from North Carolina. If you are looking for something a little stronger, barVentura is also in the lobby and offers you your drink of choice. The staff was incredibly helpful and so friendly. The staff can make or break a stay, in my opinion. Everyone was welcoming and happy to be there!
We decided to stay on the grounds for most of our meals due to the choices being absolutely phenomenal. The Urban Pantry is right downstairs and offers breakfast, lunch, and dinner. We ate lunch at the parks because we were there during the day but we were happy to gobble down breakfast and dinner from the pantry. There were so many choices, but we ended up going with sushi and stir-fry. YUM! You actually got to walk down the bar and choose all of your fixings and they would cook it fresh right in front of you. They had options of fresh chicken and veggies for the health conscious person and pizza and burgers for the vacationers. Don’t think we missed the dessert bar! Cookies and cheesecake it was for us. Calories don’t count on vacation! They were so fast and the quality was so impressive. I’m getting hungry just talking about it.
Poolside / Activities
We loved spending time outside by the pool! The weather was amazing and so cooperative, thank goodness. We sat in the most beautiful outside set up, net to the Sol Bar, and enjoyed music and each others company. This was the perfect place to relax and unwind from a crazy day at the parks. I am totally obsessed with the decor and arrangement of this area. The large lamps are the perfect addition to the cozy couches. They also have an area dedicated to games, such as Pool!! I had to talk Chandler out of spending all of his time there.
We also hit the gym one morning to sweat the sweets out and see the equipment. It was full of advanced and moderate equipment, mirrors, and a long wall of windows so you could enjoy your view while running on the treadmill. We got the best workout in!! It is actually a pretty large area to sweat it out. Chandler, being the gym snob that he is, was so impressed. That says something! We definitely took our time with our workout to enjoy all the goodies inside.
The rooftop was our FAVORITE area of the hotel! Floor 17 opens at 4:00 pm and you are able to take a special elevator up to the top to see the most beautiful view, overlooking the parks and Orlando! I was mesmerized! The tall glass windows surround the rooftop and give you a peek from every angle. bar 17 is located on the roof and offers drinks and appetizers. It’s such a great space to enjoy an evening with friends.
The photos from our room were damaged on my SD card (I don’t know how that even happens) but please take a peek of the amazing layout and accommodations of the rooms HERE. You will not be disappointed with your stay at the Lowes Aventura Hotel. We enjoyed our stay so much and were sad to say good-bye. We are already planning our summer trip back to this very spot!
We spent two days at Universal and Island of Adventures! You can tell where we spent most of our time just looking at these photos. We call it our second home, Hogwarts. We indulged in all the ButterBeer and rode all the rides to make for a sick Tanner. Chandler can handle all the craziness of such rides, like The Hulk. I had to sit on the sidelines for a couple of the rides and keep my stomach in place.
Funny story, Chandler finally talked me into going on the River Adventure ride because he was craving a lazy river ride. After asking him several times if this ride consisted of a big drop, like Splash Mountain, he assured me that it would be easy and simple. I should have known that this was false when we noticed everyone was soaking coming from the direction of that ride. I didn’t put two and two together. I trusted him and didn’t think anything of it. About halfway through the ride… click, click, click, as we inch our way up the BIGGEST mountain, I immediately thought, what goes up must come down. I looked to my right and said to Chandler, “I hate you right now”. We laughed and got to the top and went down a tiny drop. Phew… they must have just been trying to trick us. So much relief as we chugged along this river adventure. We approached what appeared to be a dead end with a T-Rex in our face. A little bit of light began to peek through the bottom of the monster and Chandler quickly said “little drop, little drop”. Another sigh of relie…. AHHHHHHH!!!!!! My stomach was in my mouth for what felt like an hour. We hit the bottom and a tsunami hit us right in the face. I was in shock and soaking wet. I didn’t mentally prepare for this type of ride and now we were soaked. All we could both do was laugh!
Chandler genuinely didn’t know that this ride was a freaking water slide. When he realized it was Splash Mountain Part 2, I think it shocked him as well. We both couldn’t stop laughing. I was shaking so badly! I told him that was the last time I’d trust him before going on a ride. It was the highlight of the day.
