Hi everyone! Welcome to my home. Kick off your shoes, hang your coat, and make yourself comfortable.
Chandler and I have officially lived in our new home for a week and a half, though I feel like we have been here a month already. As some of you know, the reason for our move was to accommodate my husband’s recent acceptance to a master’s program at the University of North Florida, also letting me keep my job at the University of Florida. We are right in the middle of Jacksonville and Gainesville. Perfect, right?
We went from a two bedroom, 1 1/2 bath townhouse to a studio apartment. Luckily, our studio does have a separate room for the bathroom, laundry room, and a large walk-in closet. I was a little worried about the downsize but I have to be honest, I LOVE IT! The layout is much more convenient and the appliances are exactly what we were looking for. We both had to donate half of our wardrobe (my husband has as many clothes as I do) to fit into this beautiful space. It has been so refreshing to de-clutter and start brand new.
P.S. Mia is adjusting wonderfully. <3
What I love about my new home:
Closer to family– we were not far from family in our last home but with such busy schedules we weren’t able to see everyone as often as we liked. Now I see my mom almost every single day.
The hardwood flooring– Fun fact: Our building is the oldest building in the town that we are living in. These are the original hardwood floors, so cool!
The lighting– As soon as you walk into our studio you are faced with 4 very large wood double hung windows with white casing. I am obsessed with them. I wouldn’t dare cover these beautiful accessories with curtains.
Location– We live directly above a cafe. This cafe hasn’t opened yet but when it does, I have a feeling we will be regular customers. I was raised very much to be a “country girl”– something happened and the gene skipped me. We may have moved to a rural town but I made sure to live in the only “city” in this area.
High Ceilings– This makes the space look and feel so much bigger than it actually is. I am most excited about having a huge Christmas tree this year!!
Comfort– Being able to watch TV in the living room while laying in bed is the dream.
I am so excited about this new chapter in our lives. We are already making memories in our new home. Change is good, I have to remind myself of that often when a little bit of OCD kicks in. I really hope you guys enjoyed this post, I worked a little harder on this one. Thank you all for your support, it means the world. <3
